Standard 6: Density and Buoyancy

All objects experience a buoyant force when immersed in a fluid.

£     I understand that density is calculated by how much mass fits in a unit volume.

£     I can calculate the density of substances from measurements of mass and volume.

£     I can explain the buoyant force on an object in a fluid.

£     I understand buoyancy is calculated in units of an upward force.

£     I can calculate the upward force equals -the weight of the fluid- the object displaced.

£     I can predict whether an object will float or sink.
